~This Week's Recap~

❗️Impact of Title IX Changes on Hermon School Department

Boys on girls’ sports teams:

Starting, August 1, 2024, the Biden-Harris unconstitutional rewrite of Title IX came into effect, therefore Hermon K-12 schools must allow boys, who identify as girls, on girls' sports teams and in girl’s spaces.

What this means for Hermon:

It means if schools do not comply, they risk losing federal funding.

It means our K-12 schools must allow boys that identify as girls in girls’ bathrooms, showers, and changing areas.

It means our K-12 schools must allow boys that identify as girls to join girls’ sports teams.

It means our girl athletes will be forced to play against teams with boys.

Fortunately, there is something Parents/Guardians can do:

Proactively, 26 states and three organizations: Female Athletes United, Mom’s for Liberty, and Young America’s Foundation filed historic federal lawsuits against the Department of Education and received interim protection. These filings not only led to multiple Federal district courts issuing preliminary injunctions prohibiting the Federal Department of Education from enforcing these changes in the 26 states, but also at schools attended by members of Female Athletes United, Mom’s for Liberty, and Young America’s Foundation.

What parents can do now:

When just one person from Hermon High School, Hermon Middle School, and Patricia A. Duran School becomes a Female Athletes United, Mom’s for Liberty member or starts a Young America’s Foundation, that school is protected by the injunction. It really is that simple. Names of members will be withheld by the organizations, and the only information that will be disclosed is the name of the school the child attends. Parents and guardians, please protect our girls by registering now.

What everyone can do:

Share this email with family, friends, and parents at other schools so that they can sign up and cover their school. Our goal is that 100% of Maine schools are covered by this Title IX injunction. No girl should ever be forced to play against boys or share a bathroom, shower or locker room with boys.

What we need to do long term:

There is no resting on this preliminary injunction. The injunction does not stop state legislatures and school committees from creating policies and laws that mirror Title IX.

When we vote, we should be compelled to consider how elected officials, our Representatives, Senators, and School Committee members feel about boys in girl’s spaces. We should be prepared for a rebound effect from Democrats at the state level and vote accordingly on November 5, 2024. We need every voter to vote into office an army of Senators and Representatives that will push back against the radical agendas being pushed in Augusta.
