Hermon Town Council Meeting Recap
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the Hermon Town Council met. Present were councilors Derek Wood, Terry Hamm-Morris, Joshua Berry, Christopher Gray, Ronald Murphy, Richard Cyr, and John Snyer III.
Meeting Highlights
Election Goes Smoothly
Many expressed their appreciation to Kristen and the election officer for another smooth election. Kristen and a small team of officials stayed until 4:00 am to ensure all information could be reported in a timely manner.
Streamside Extension Accepted as a Public Way
The council unanimously approved accepting Streamside Extension as a public way.
Paid Family Medical Leave Act Policy Accepted
The council unanimously approved accepting the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act mandated by a recent change in state law.
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Moratorium
The council unanimously approved extending the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) moratorium. This allows the Ordinance Committee more time to draft the ordinance.
Council Accepts Maine Municipal Association Safety and Health Grant
The council unanimously approved accepting the Maine Municipal Association Safety and Health Grant that will cover the full cost for two storage cabinets for flammable liquids.
ALS Backup Billing
A workshop was held on starting to bill for ALS back-up for Northern Light and other area ambulance services. This fee would be charged when paramedic level services are required and Hermon Fire provides Paramedic level service during transport.
